Wild Awakenings: Creativity as a Way of Life

What if creativity weren’t something to be figured out or solved? What if it were a relationship to live into?

Creativity isn’t separate from us. It’s one way our life force flows through us. Whether we garden, write, paint, cook, dance, build, or raise children, we are participating in an ancient human capacity to bring something into the world that did not exist before.

When we lose touch with that relationship, we begin producing without participating.

Relationship asks something different. It asks us to be present, pay attention, and notice what is emerging.

In this gathering, we’ll slow down enough to let that happen. We’ll spend time outdoors, tracking how the living world moves through seasons and cycles rather than straight lines. We’ll practice deep listening — to a tree, a stretch of silence, each other — as a way of loosening the grip of “figuring it out.” And we’ll bring pen, brush, or hands to simple prompts that ask only for attention, not achievement.

Carl Jung wrote, “Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakes.” Creativity asks us to do both — to learn from the world around us while listening for what is stirring within.

Not something we do. A way of life. Producing without participating is the trap. This gathering is the way back out of it.
