Based on the book The Last Week by Marcus Borg & John D. Crossan, join us as we explore the deeper meaning of the events – and liturgies – of Holy Week.

Instead of glorifying the suffering and death of Jesus as we see in Mel Gibson’s The Passion of the Christ, together we’ll examine the traditional sequence of that last week through a different, more compassionate lens, revisioning what we are accustomed to. Let us acknowledge the suffering that Jesus endured to bring about a more liberated and non-violent world for humans and non-humans alike, and also recognize the courageous and prophetic stance of Mary Magdalene and the other women after the male apostles betrayed Jesus and fled. These reflections invite us to reimagine more creative ways to celebrate the liturgies of Holy Week and encourage us to emulate that same discipleship in today’s world.
